Artists of the month

It's ladies night at the NCAN. Here are two amazing women's websites that all should see. Very different in their style, but equally masterful in their skill. Shanna and I took our classes together at JMU, and I was able to meet and work with Margaret on a number of occasions when I lived in VA. Check it.

While we’re speaking of female artists, I thought I’d share some of my favorites.

I discovered Jocelyn Braxton Armstrong when she was named an Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly last year. She creates beautiful sculptures by piecing together porcelain with black slip. The end result gives the effect that the piece has been delicately stitched together.

A second artist is Magda Gluszek. Her works typically have a figurative base, but always with a twist.

Another is Ayumi Horie. I have recently been transitioning to more functional work, and once you look at her pieces you will see the obvious draw. She also has a really neat website (check out ‘pots in action’).
